Meet Becca Marsh

Becca Marsh is a travel writer, photographer, adventurer and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society whose work is shaped by curiosity, detailed research and a preference for journeys that do not stop where the tarmac ends.

She joined Destination Unlocked after spending six weeks in Guyana updating the fourth edition of the Bradt Guide to Guyana. It was her first visit to the country and her first full guidebook assignment, requiring her to move quickly between Georgetown, remote communities, rainforest lodges and the savannahs of the Rupununi.

Becca had already travelled extensively through South America, much of it along the continent’s western side and the Pan-American Highway. Guyana offered a different geography and rhythm: English-speaking, river-crossed and still relatively lightly visited. Her interests naturally drew her towards wildlife and conservation, including camera trapping in jaguar habitat and learning about black caiman monitoring at Caiman House.

Alongside her writing, Becca is a co-founder of Global Convoy, an adventure-travel media community built around overland journeys. Global Convoy’s journeys have also become documentaries, including an expedition in an American school bus from Alaska to Argentina.

Becca’s work combines the practical eye of a guidebook researcher with the energy of an overlander. She notices the booking systems and road conditions, but also the meal customs, conservation projects and small human exchanges that explain how a place really works.
